Beckley’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will happen at Word Park on Neville Street on Monday, December 1. Activities begin at 5:15 pm with the countdown to the lighting at 5:30 pm. Sing your favorite Christmas Carols with music presented by the Salvation Army Brass Band.
Hot Chocolate will be provided at the WVU Tech Culinary building across the street – (which is also a backup location for the music if there is inclement weather).
A special holiday character will make an appearance during the event.
After the tree lighting, First Baptist Church will be open for tours of their beautiful Christmas decorations throughout the church.
Mark your calendar and plan to attend this holiday event. Downtown is being transformed with lights and decorations by the City's Parks & Recreation and Public Works Departments. Plus, the chamber's "Light up Beckley" initiative is involving local businesses and organizations.
Also, note the Christmas Parade will be on Saturday, December 6, at 11 am.
