Beautiful Aches: A Bereavement Mother’s Day Brunch

Mother’s Day is beautiful for many. And for some of us, it is the hardest day of the year.

Wings of Hope presents Beautiful Aches — a sacred space created specifically for mothers who are grieving. Whether you’ve lost a child, a mother, or someone who made you who you are, this is not a pep talk. It is a table set for you, with food, presence, a journal to carry your words home, and people who understand.

Every first Saturday of May, we gather to do what grief rarely allows: exhale together.

I know this space is needed because I needed it.

My daughter, Lauren Taylor, was stillborn on November 6, 2015. And what no one tells you is that the grief does not have a finish line. You don’t heal and move on. You learn to carry her with you — in every holiday, every milestone, every Mother’s Day that the world celebrates while your arms remember what they held and lost.

This brunch exists because Lauren Taylor existed. Because her life, however brief, made me a mother. And because I refused to let another woman sit alone in that pain when there was a table we could build together.
