Join us for a trip to Oakland County's star spot for winter waterfowl viewing. One of the deepest lakes in Oakland County, Dawson's Millpond stays open for the better part of the winter attracting waterfowl in large numbers. We expect to see such birds as Tundra Swans, Trumpeter Swans, Ring-necked Ducks, and Hooded Mergansers. The park is located in Pontiac, off Orchard Lake Rd. It is a City Park and is free of charge.
After we leave Beaudette Park, we'll travel down the road to Dodge Bros. #4 State Park. This park does require a State Parks passport for entry. Depending on the weather, there may be open water here as well, so we'll check for ducks as well as small birds like Snow Buntings and winter Sparrows. The park can be very variable, so it's possible we'll either see a lot or not much.
