New for 2026, Beast of the East is landing at The Unit, Colchester!
Never competed before? This is a perfect place to start. Alongside our Novice and First Timer categories for both men and women, plus an inters and Masters 40+ class for men, Beast of the East gives new and amateur athletes a supportive, professional environment to get their first competition under their belt where you are treated like a proper athlete regardless of your level.
For the more experienced lifters chasing the Open titles, we’re putting cash on the platform. Both the men’s and Women’s Open podiums will be paid £300 for 1st, £200 for 2nd and £100 for 3rd.
Athlete entry is £50 per person.

Event 1 - Axle Bar Floor to Overhead

Max reps in 60 seconds. Any overhead method allowed (strict press, push press, jerks) bar returns to the floor each rep. No rep on soft lockout or dangerous drops.

Timed course carrying and loading sandbags over a yoke. 60 second time cap - fastest time wins, with incomplete runs scored on bags loaded. Load height will be 48 inches
