About Bears in Hazenmore:
In search of ways to express the beautiful and lonely expanse that is the northern grasslands, five friends from Swift Current, SK discovered meaning in the raw connections they cultivated with each other through sound. Bears in Hazenmore is a rock band, yet they often reject conventions in slight but powerful ways. Drawing from a deep love for experimental music and the heartbreak of first loves, they created the wide open sounds of their early EPs S/T and Airwaves, and followed it with a love letter to place with their full length Atlas, crafted over cross-country tours that ate up their 20s. Their forthcoming 2025 release is a culmination of songs years in the making – built, torn down, and built again – asking tougher questions about a world more filled with suffering, mistrust, self-doubt, and joy than before. With shades of their earlier post-rock selves still peeking through, their sound has evolved to include synths and 80s-pop guitar layered with the familiar horn timbres the band is most recognized for. At times you’ll feel the urge to move, at others you’ll feel the brute force of loss and fear, with the only constant an honest take of what it’s like to love and live in a world that deserves our empathy.
About Wild Black:
Saskatoon-born, Toronto-based multi-hyphenate creative Wild Black has been making waves in the music scene. With features in Afropunk, Fader, Range Magazine, CBC Music, The Toronto Star, and Analog Trash—who described her latest single “I Miss The High” as "Madonna and Blood Orange collaborating on a glittering pop bop"—she’s solidified her place as an artist to watch. Her music has been synced to shows streaming on CBC Gem and Crave Canada and has captivated audiences at events like the Toronto Jazz Festival, Pop Montreal, PrideTO, Saskatoon Pride, and the Regina Folk Festival. A two-time recipient of the MVP Project, Wild Black created stunning visuals for her singles “Stay Dreamin’” and “I Miss The High”—both self-directed and released under Toronto indie label Next Door Records.
Seamlessly blending and bending influences of disco, 80s/90s dance, pop, and rock, Wild Black crafts a genre-fluid alternative / electro / pop sound. Her dynamic stage show combines live instrumentation with electronic elements, creating a dreamy soundscape that pulls you into your feelings and onto the dance floor. About Carmela:
Carmela is a five-piece, queer rock band that has combined their diverse musical backgrounds to create a sound that blends hardcore sensibilities with nostalgic pop-rock-laden riffs. Their debut EP, “Time To Be Mean” (2023), highlights the all-too-common femme experience of broken trust, patriarchal dominance, and misogynistic forces that lie in the shadows of the music scene. Carmela lays it all out in songs that are equal parts devastating, healing, and memorable.
