Bearing Witness: A Curated Short Film Screening & Conversation
Bearing Witness brings together three short films screened in sequence, followed by a facilitated community conversation. The program centers stories connected to pregnancy, incarceration, and motherhood, creating space for reflection, dialogue, and shared learning.
The screening will take place at the Cowles Auditorium at the University of Minnesota. Doors open at 1:30 pm, and the program will begin promptly at 2:00 pm.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged.
About the Films
is an intimate documentary following Victoria Lopez, a Minnesota mother granted one year with her newborn twins before serving a seven year Pr*son sentence on drug related charges.
is a narrative short film that explores pregnancy and incarceration through a generational lens, centering lived experience and the lasting impact of separation.
is a short film focused on motherhood after incarceration, examining healing, identity, and the complexities of rebuilding family life following release.
