Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Tasting with NearyNógs

We’ve worked with the brilliant team at NearyNógs for many years, and their chocolate has been a firm fixture on the Indie Füde shelves for a very long time. As fellow champions of great produce, provenance and the people behind what we eat, they’re exactly the sort of makers we love getting into a room with! So we’re delighted to welcome them to Indie Füde for a proper exploration of all things chocolate 😋

The NearyNógs team will take us right back to the beginning, looking at where cacao comes from, how the beans are grown and sourced, and what actually happens between the cacao bean arriving in Northern Ireland and becoming a delicious finished bar of chocolate.

Along the way, we’ll taste through a selection of NearyNógs chocolates, exploring different cacao origins, percentages and flavour profiles. We’ll discover just how much the character of chocolate can change depending on where its cacao has come from and how it has been treated, and learn a little about how to properly taste chocolate and pick out the flavours hiding within each bar.

We’ll explore the importance of provenance and ethical sourcing, get an insight into the bean-to-bar chocolate-making process and eat some really excellent chocolate!

To round things off, we’ll finish with a NearyNógs hot chocolate - because how else should a chocolate tasting end?
