A truly unique workshop to start off the new year!Textile art is a limitless fine art form where artists push the boundaries and present innovative methods of textile expression. Maracole Bijoux is an artist, currently exhibiting in our Fiber Art Now: ARTwear exhibition, who does just that! Maracole utilizes baseball embroidery to explore themes of luxury, femininity, sustainability, and gender.
Through this workshop, participants will be invited to expand their creativity by learning techniques for creating their own beaded baseball. In Maracole's Bead Embroidery on a Used Baseball workshop, students will learn how to "skin" a baseball, explore decorative embroidery on an unconventional surface, and transform their piece into a decoration or wearable art, such as a pendant or bracelet. This class is categorized as intermediate, as participants should be comfortable threading a needle and working with beads.
Students will walk away from this workshop having completed one of these three items:
A single embroidered baseball with a magnet to decorate the fridge
A single embroidered baseball without a magnet to be used as a pendant, for example
A bracelet with a single embroidered baseball (for advanced participants)
