Newsies: The Musical is a high-energy Broadway show inspired by the true story of the 1899 Newsboys Strike in New York City. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the expense of the young newsboys who sell their papers, charismatic leader Jack Kelly rallies his fellow “newsies” to stand up for fair treatment. Joined by the determined reporter Katherine Plumber, the newsies organize a citywide strike that captures national attention.
