Janice Hudson and Virginia Shelby will give a talk on Native American Research. BCGS member Janice Hudson can trace her ancestry back to 1811 in local community of Bon Secour, Baldwin County, a time when Native Americans still roamed the area. Janice has an avid interest in local history and presently is working an ongoing project of reading isolated cemeteries. Janice is presently editor of the BCGS newsletter Yore Lore.
Escambia County, Fla., native Virginia Shelby is the author of two books, ‘Shelby’s of Dixie’ and ‘The History of Beulah Baptist Church and Community’, and a contributor to History of Escambia County, v 1 & 2. She is a member of West Florida Genealogical Society, Mid-County Historical Society, Florida Genealogical Society, South Carolina Genealogical Society, DAR, and Daughters of 1812.
