About this Event
Welcome to Battles in the border princes 2, a Warhammer: The Old World two-day gaming event taking place on the 8th and 9th of February 2025. This event will feature 4 battles over two days against opponents in a battle to control the lands of the border princes. As the noble king of Bretonnia battles the mighty Settra, armies that have swept into the border princes in their wake battle for supremacy, sacking towns, searching for arcane artifacts, and hiring mercenaries to swell their numbers.
What will you need?
A 2000pt Warhammer the old world army, chosen from the forces or fantasy, ravening hordes, or any pdf "legacy" armies. Note that ALL armies are "legal", including all “legacy” armies. Alternative forces in the arcane journals are also fair game, as are any armies of infamy or alternate lists released by games workshop in white dwarf or other publications. Please note that this is not a competitive or tournament event are there will be no prizes for smashing your opponent. It is likely that there will be a higher demographic of more casual players so entering the event with the idea of smashing everyone with the most tuned up army you can is not really the right approach.
All armies must be fully painted and based. See more below in regard to what is "fully painted and based"
Your army list, written in a legible format, either digitally or on paper. If you use an app like battlescribe or old world builder please ensure that you print out the list in a format that is easily legible.
All the dice and templates you require, including scatter and artillery dice if your army requires it or might require it (in the case of spells)
All the books and PDFs required to play your army, and the Warhammer: the old world rulebook. If you bring a digital copy of anything please remember to bring a charger and keep your digital device charged!
A tape measure (please note that whippy sticks shouldn't be used for measuring without your opponents consent. Using them as an offensive weapon is also optional and again requires the consent of the recipient of the whippy stick strike.)
(optional) A fluff piece for your army, this can be as long or short as you like, it's just a bit of background for your army and your characters, who they are and why they're there. Feel free to print these or hand write them in lavish, overly done medieval script.
A note on bases: base sizes won't be a problem for this event, if you have models from older editions of Warhammer fantasy then you will not be expected to rebase them. If you have built a new army and want to be able to use it in older editions and so have smaller bases, it again doesn't matter. If you have a mixture of old and new base sizes, it won't matter. If you can't seem to find a resolution or you would like to ask a question regarding base sizes, please feel free to contact me in advance or on the day. Blatant abuse of this (such as a dragon on a tiny base, or infantry on absolutely massive bases) may be met with you being asked to remove that model from the event and use another model instead. If one isn't available then you will have to play with less points or change your list. To summarise, please be sensible.
The boxout "base sizes (designers note)" on page 98 of the rulebook is to be ignored.
Note that if you have smaller base sizes you will be far more vulnerable to template weapons and effects.
The games: each day will consist of 2 games of Warhammer: the old world against a randomly chosen opponent. As this will still be a very new game for many people, the standard battle scenarios will be used, with options for more experienced or outgoing players to play a unique scenario if they wish on some tables.
"Fully painted and based"
All armies for the event are required to be fully painted and based. This doesn't mean you have to get your army to a golden demon standard or even a particularly high quality. But it will need to be done to a very basic tabletop standard. This means a few colours, no bare plastic, resin, or metal, and some form of texture, paint, or effect on the base. If you're unsure of what this amounts to then please free to contact me at [email protected] or @exewargaming on Instagram to get clarification. Or put something in the watsapp group
Model requirements, proxies and counts as
There is no requirement for your models to be “GW official” for this event. Feel free to arrive with a fully 3D printed army, an army made from various different sources, or fully made with citadel plastic, resin, and metal kits. Aslong as a model is clear in what it is supposed to represent, that’s good enough. If you’ve got any doubts then feel free to contact me or put your question in the watsapp group (ideally with a picture so everyone gets to see your awesome models!)
Awards:
-Best army: There will be an award for a player voted best army. This might be painting, modelling, theme, composition or just overall coolness. Voting will take place on day 1
-Most sporting: there will be an award for the player voted most sporting. This will be the player who gains the most "favourite game" votes over the weekend
-Best single model: Players will vote for a favourite single model on day 2. The winner of those vote will also walk away with an award.
Tea, coffee, snacks, food, and amenities:
There will be tea and coffee available all day. The venue has a bar that may be open at some point during the event but don't count on it. There are ample toilet facilities on site.

There are two chip shops within 5 minutes walk, a third chip shop within 10 minutes walk, 2 corner shops, a pub, and several takeaways within 5 minutes walk. There is also a large Sainsbury's 5 minutes drive up the road. Delivery services are also available in the area
