Battle of the Teams - raising your heart rate to raise hope for Gwen’s
Community isn’t just a word—it’s a lifeline.
On Saturday, November 30th, let’s come together at Gorilla House to lift up the Gabriel family.
Glenn and Abbie Gabriel are members of our gym, and right now, they’re going through an unimaginable time. Their 8-year-old daughter, Gwen, has been in the hospital for almost a year, bravely battling complications as her body rejects her first donor heart. She’s fighting to get stable enough for a second transplant, and for another year, the Gabriels are preparing to spend the holidays in the hospital.
We can’t give them a new heart, but we can give them something just as powerful…hope and our support and strength as a community.
Join us for the "Battle of the Teams," an all-day workout event dedicated to Gwen.
Date: Saturday, November 30th (the Saturday after Thanksgiving)
Goal: 10 teams, and 10 teammates show up and just workout.
Details: 2 hours, 10 teammates; 5 teammates work from 8:00am-9:00am and the other 5 teammates will take the torch from 9:30am-10:30am.
Each teammate will choose from exercises like burpees, farmer’s carry, wall balls, and lot's more.
Bragging Rights: At the end, one team will earn the title of Best Battle of the Teams Team and a special prize!
There are 10 teams that have been paid and pledged for $1,000. Every dollar raised goes directly to Glenn, Abbie, and their four kids, showing them that they are not alone in this journey.
What we need? YOU! To show up…collecting money is easy, showing up can be difficult.
We need 100 people to join in this effort, even if it’s just one hour of your time. Sign up by yourself or with some friends….just show up! The teams have been paid for and this event is absolutely free. All you need to do is raise your heart rate a lil to send some hope to a little girl waiting for a new heart.
You can also donate on your own as well!
Together, let’s make this an unforgettable day of strength and solidarity for the Gabriel family. Let’s give them a reason to feel hope this season.

Once the teams are filled up and a week before the event you will coordinate with your team to pick an hour to raise your heart rate and battle it out!

PLEASE NOTE!!!! This isn’t really about how well you can burpee or how many wall balls you can do….your current fitness level is enough….you will laugh, chat, and maybe even cry a little for an hour with 9 other people doing an exercise. If you need to go slow…go slow. If you need to modify…modify. Just like Gwen…it’s not always easy, but you step up. So please do not be intimidated. Join us!
