The Bargello quilt we will be doing is one called Batikiello from the book Bargello Quilts in Motion by Ruth Ann Berry. .
Batikiello is the quilt pictured on the cover of her book and the name is just a combination of Batik and Bargello. You do not, however, have to use batiks. I would like you to wait until the first class to pick out your fabrics. The quilt requires not only a gradation of colors, but two types of fabrics. The background and the “scribble” as Ruth calls it. The background consists of solids in a color gradation from light to dark. The scribble consists of prints also graduated from light to dark as well, but with one or two additional colors thrown in .
The quilt will finish 81 ½ x 93 ¼ without any borders. If you want the quilt a little longer and wider to accommodate the thicker mattresses now popular on a queen size beds, the addition of borders will do that. With or without borders it is a stunning quilt with lots of motion. There are 3 dates for this class. Instructor charge for this class is 20 for each session.
