TOPIC: Intentional Curiosity: Exploring Nature Journaling by Karly Tumminello
WHERE: Batavia Public Library
Through this program, we will explore the benefits of nature and dive into the basics of nature journaling. Learn how to record your observations of nature through a nature journal or field notebook.
We will look at the key features of nature journals, various techniques of descriptive writing, how to incorporate visual elements, and basic sketching. Nature journaling is a fun and engaging way to explore and track nature experiences and can be done by anyone!
Karly Tumminello has been an environmental educator for over 20 years. She has a Master's degree in Anthropology from Northern Illinois University. She currently serves as the Director/Curator of the Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL, where she also teaches Nature Writing. She serves on the board of the Environmental Education Association of Illinois, the Pick Museum of Anthropology, and the Darien Garden Club. She also volunteers as a University of Illinois Extension Certified Master Naturalist. She is an avid gardener and birder, loves to draw and craft, and enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
