Basslandia x Mère Ubu Art Gallery: A Celebration of Women in the Arts

Step into a gorgeous art gallery in downtown LA with us, and hear the enchanting sound of a classical bass ensemble (think string quartet, but all bass!)

Featuring ART by Italian painter and Mere Ubu resident artist Catarina Piccardo, LIVE MUSIC by all-women bass quartet Basslandia and all-women percussion quartet Clique, and a VENDOR FAIR featuring local women artisans.

Ensembles:

• Basslandia: Basslandia is an LA-based music collective founded in 2024 by classical bassist Phoebe Cohen, featuring an all-women bass ensemble, with the mission of uplifting women and gender-diverse bassists through music, education, and community engagement. Basslandia performs neo-classical, neo-romantic, and modern works for upright bass ensembles, as well as debuts newly commissioned works by living composers!
• Clique: Clique is a performance collective led by classical percussionist Dr. Yuri Inoo, presenting music that is relatable and inclusive. At Clique, expansiveness and building a community is our core value. We challenge the standard repertoire by amplifying composers and performers who are under-represented. Our goal is to bring music of unexpected people to unexpected places.

• Alli Made These: Unique, handcrafted jewelry featuring copper, natural stones, and mixed metals

• Mother Pottery: Wheel-thrown stoneware pottery, crafted for daily use and inspired by earthy tones, natural textures, and simple, functional forms
