Join us for a special members event at the historic Basilica of St. John in Des Moines, Iowa!Located in the heart of the Drake neighborhood, this stunning Minor Basilica of the Catholic Church is a true architectural gem. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Basilica features beautiful Romanesque Revival architecture, intricate stained glass windows, and a rich history dating back to 1905.
Experience the awe-inspiring 50-foot barrel vaulted ceiling, marvel at the Indiana limestone exterior, and soak in the atmosphere of this spiritual landmark. With a seating capacity of 900, there's plenty of room for all to enjoy this unique venue.
Beyond its architectural beauty, the Basilica of St. John has a strong commitment to community service. In 1992, it joined forces with seven other local churches to establish the Churches United Shelter (now the Central Iowa Shelter), demonstrating a dedication to combating homelessness in the Des Moines area.
