BASICS: Long Arm Quilter with instructor Mary

This Basics class will run approx 1 hour (with 30minutes to play) and is designed to cover the foundational knowledge needed to use the equipment detailed.

Longarm quilting at LMS is the process of using a large, industrial-sized sewing machine mounted on a 10ft frame to stitch together a quilt top, batting, and backing into a finished quilt. Unlike domestic sewing, the user moves the machine across a stationary quilt, allowing for faster quilting of large projects

What you will learn in this class:

• Overview of machine and parts
• Compatible materials and thread types
• How to load the machine
• How to thread the machine and bobbin
• Importance of tension
• Basic stitching for your quilt

Members who complete this BASICS course will be considered proficent and may use the Longarm Quilter during open hours.

LMS provides all necessary safety gear, including safety glasses and other PPE.

Closed-toed shoes are required at all times at the Lacey MakerSpace.
