This beginner sewing class, taught by Lynn D. Martin, offers a welcoming, hands-on introduction to sewing basics, including machine operation, simple stitches, and practical projects designed to build confidence and creativity. Lynn brings a strong commitment to education and community empowerment, shaped by her longtime service as a trustee of the McComb School District Board and her recognition for proactive leadership on behalf of children. She is a graduate of Salem Attendance Center, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Belhaven University. Known for her belief that we must invest fully in people to strengthen society, Lynn creates a supportive learning environment where students of all backgrounds can develop new skills, patience, and pride in what they make.Organized by Pike School of Art — Mississippi, Community Centered Classes are monthly workshops led by local artists and creatives who have expertise in a particular art form. This program uplifts and compensates community members for sharing their skills, while making the arts more accessible and rooted in the lived experiences of McComb and its surrounding areas. Community Centered Classes are supported by a Walmart Spark Good Local Grant from Walmart Supercenter McComb.
