Basic Bird Photography - Spring Migration Preparation

As the Spring Migrations approach, it’s a great time to refine your skills as a Bird Photographer. Capturing wonderful images during your outings is truly exciting, and the concepts presented in this class are designed to help you achieve your goals as a bird photographer. You don’t have to travel far to capture beautiful bird photos; this class will guide you in making the most of your local opportunities.

This course is geared towards the beginning bird photographers.

The class will cover:

– Potential settings

– Finding good backgrounds

– Determining shooting angles taking into account lighting and composition

– Waiting for the right moment

– How to find best locations for the Spring

– Tips for success

-Exploring behaviors

– Hints for Grange Insurance Audubon Center and the surrounding area

Kathryn will provide specific examples from images she has taken in the past on how to increase your number of keepers.

About the Instructor: Kathryn Cubert has been photographing birds at every opportunity in a full range of weather conditions for over eight years. She has also been a Hog Island Audubon bird photography instructor in Maine for the past three years. Kathryn has exhibited her imagery at the McConnell Arts Center, the Ohio State Fair Fine Art Exhibit and the Riffe Gallery.Her photos have been published by Audubon.org, NANPA (the North American Nature Photographer’s Association), Bird Watchers Digest, Columbus Monthly, local conservation organizations – the Arc of Appalachia and Appalachia Ohio Alliance. She is a current member of Westbridge Camera Club, BSBO (Black Swamp Bird Observatory) and Columbus Audubon.
