As spring blossoms the forests are vibrant in different hues of green yellow and orange; while in the farmlands new harvests are just about ready to be bought back home to stock ahead for the dry summers.....joy and happiness rules...as we are united in thanking Mother Earth for a bountiful harvest....
Thus around this period of the year from times immemorial people would rest themselves and allow even Mother Nature to rest before the actual harvest action begins....and so it happens even today as the air fills with devotion and fragrances of incense the sound of drums and conches as people especially in parts of North and East India...celebrate Navratri and Basanti Durga Puja.
In Hindu mythology Durga the embodiment of Shakti is a force beyond the binaries of benevolence and wrath. She has nine forms while as Durga she is with her children! The fierce warrior Kartikeya the wise scribe Ganesha the generous ever-nurturing Lakshmi and the learned knowledge-giver Saraswati—each carrying a legacy of strength and wisdom that continue to hold significance for us.
Team DBF brings you a morning of mythological storytelling—an ode to Maa Durga and Her Divine Children as we gather under the shade of lush foliage of trees inside the sacred precincts/courtyards of two of Delhi's iconic temples the Malai Mandir and South Delhi Kali Bari unraveling the layered narratives of Shakti and her divine offspring—stories of valor duty love and the eternal struggle of Good against Chaos.
Join us on a fun-filled walk-baithak where mythology meets philosophy and devotion turns into spiritual dialogue. Explore rituals being practiced today through age-old legends and lesser-known tales and rediscover the many social and spiritual facets of the Supreme Goddess and her family—as Mother Protector Provider and the Cosmic Forces that uphold our ancient agrarian Indian society.
