As-salamu alaykum, everyone,***Update on location and date for this event***
**Due to the wind direction being from the north on April 4th, which is not suitable for the Basant event (as it faces toward the freeway, and we need it to be in the west), we are unable to proceed with the event as planned. As a result, the event will need to be rescheduled for sometime in May.
We will provide an update during the week once wind conditions shift to a favorable westward direction.

In the spirit of Basant, we are pleased to invite you to celebrate Basant Day on Saturday, May 16th, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Garin Park in Hayward. (1320 Garin Ave, Hayward, CA 94544). Please park at the parking lot and walk towards the bridge. Once you pass the bridge you will see the restrooms on the right. Go past those and come up the small hill, thats where the kite area is, there will be signs for "Basant" so please follow the signs.
Please note that the location has been changed due to permit requirements and restrictions at Shoreline. We have secured a permit for Garin Park, which allows us to fly kites without restrictions.
Kindly be advised that, as part of the park requirements, we are responsible for collecting all kites and strings (dur) at the end of the event. Nothing may be left behind, so we appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep the park clean.
**Please know that the only dur will be used is 25/26 35/36 # dur**
We will continue to monitor wind conditions as the event approaches and will provide updates if needed.
I will be bringing plenty of kites and dur to use. If you have your own kites or equipment, please feel free to bring them along. We hope to make this a fun, family-friendly picnic where we can enjoy the outdoors, reconnect as a community, and relive cherished childhood memories.
