Are you a master at making pies or cakes? Do you want to show off your skills for a good cause and possible prize? Do you like eating pies or cake? Do you crave giving back to your community in a meaningful way? If you answered yes to any of the above, join the Troutman Foundation at the inaugural Barry County Bake Off & Dessert Benefit Auction on Nov. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at the Crowder Cassville Community Building.MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THOSE IN NEED
Proceeds from the Barry County Bake Off & Dessert Benefit Auction will be split between the Cassville Pantry and the Generations Project, with all funds aimed at lessening food insecurity in Barry County. Serving 625 families and 1,650 individuals each month, Cassville Pantry is witnessing an unprecedented rise in need. In recent months, one in five people arriving at the Pantry had never before needed food assistance, revealing how many are being squeezed by high grocery and living costs. Cassville Pantry is located at 800 W. 10th Street in Cassville. The Generations Project is a new organization housed at the Andey Hunter Community Resource Center (old Barry County Jail). A room at the Center will be a dedicated food pantry open to anyone in need. The pantry will be set up similar to a grocery store to meet emergency needs for local residents. The Generations Project is pursuing a partnership with God's Pantry in Garfield, Ark., which is currently serving southern Barry County residents and is supplied by Ozarks Food Harvest. The Generations Project has also received donations of time and materials to paint the room, as well as donated refrigeration appliances, from Victory House in Shell Knob.
