About this Event
Jeffrey Anderson, MD, graduate of Harvard Medical School, affiliated with Intermountain Health, was the first artificial mechanical heart recipient. Barney Clark, DDS's cardiologist. Living 112 days, the "Barney Clark Story" at the University of Utah had the greatest positive outcome and taught the lesson of the feasibility of supporting a damaged heart mechanically. This resulted in progression in the bioengineering field, and the current ability to provide benefit through mechanical support to advanced heart failure patients not only in Utah, but to thousands of other patients each year worldwide.
