Keira Witherkay
--------------------
Keira Witherkay was born in Cape Town but spent a life travelling as a professional musician both locally in South Africa and abroad performing continuously for over 3 decades which has taken her throughout South Africa, most of western Europe and the middle east Emirates and Bahrain till 2016 when she settled in Johannesburg and performed and taught music there and in 2021 just post covid moved back home to Cape Town and has continued teaching music and performing. To quote Shakespeare Twelfth night act 1 “If Music be the food of love, play on”.

Len Verwey
--------------------
Len Verwey is a South African poet and singer-songwriter living in Cape Town. He has published two collections of poetry, In a language that you know and Loving the dying, and will be recording his first full length album of songs early in 2026. His intimate, sometimes intricate guitar playing is influenced by a wide spectrum of players and cultures, and his understated voice brings his songs to life quietly and in ways that often linger after the hearing.

Krakatoa

Krakatoa is a surf-guitar band in the tradition of the reverb-soaked, early ’60s guitar shakers like Dick Dale, Link Wray, and the Ventures. They’ve been raving up retro parties since the birth of the millennium, playing regularly around the peninsula. Now with a horn section and a host of new material, the band is in its prime.

Join us next Monday for a fantastic night of music featuring the expansive sounds of Keira Witherkay who brings three decades of global performing experience to our local stage; alongside the intimate and intricate guitar playing of poet and singer-songwriter Len Verwey; and finally our headline act, the energetic, reverb-soaked surf-guitar band of Krakatoa, now enhanced with a live horn section!
