Join Save the Dunes for our next Barker Seasonal Forum. An event geared toward taking community members on a deeper dive into the programs and initiatives of Save the Dunes. This quarter, we're sharing the story of the historic Barker House. We'll begin at 4:30PM with a short (.75 flat) walk through Barker Woods, managed by Shirley Heinze Land Trust, and share some of the interesting history behind the 30 acres of old growth forest nestled in the heart of Michigan City.
Then at 5:30PM we'll get comfy in the newly renovated Barker House for a short presentation on the history of the Barker House, it's first (and only) private owners, relatives of the famous John Barker, and how Save the Dunes came to own the unique and special property.
We'll end by sharing our initiatives on saving the Barker House, and our future plans for the homestead.
