Barchives 30: Brewer's Grave Tour

Get into the Halloween spirit at Woodlawn Cemetery on October 19th. Docent Nestor Dayluk will lead us on a tour of 19th-century brewers’ graves, providing insights into the lives of those who contributed to a thriving brewing culture in the Bronx. Following the one-hour tour, we’ll convene at the nearby Rambling House pub. Rambling House, celebrating its 20th anniversary, represents an even longer history of Irish culture in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx.

HOW TO REGISTER:

Tour: Register for both the tour and the Barchives talk separately. When you check out, just grab a ticket for each. We can only bring along folks who register ahead of time, so make sure to register for the tour.

Thanks to generous sponsorships from METRO and the Woodlawn Conservancy, the cost of the trolley ride is free for those who pre-register for this Barchives event. The trolley tour is open to all ages, and an ADA lift is available. Please consider a donation to Woodlawn Conservancy to support their historical and cultural programming.

Barchives: Our "traditional" Barchives will take place at Rambling House (4292 Katonah Avenue

The Bronx, NY 10470) around 3 PM, and it's open to everyone, even if you didn't get to join us on the tour or register in advance.

DIRECTIONS:

Metro North Railroad From Grand Central Station: Take the Harlem Line local train (North White Plains). Exit at Woodlawn Station. At top of stairs, turn right. Cemetery Webster office is to the left across the street.

Subway: Take take the #2 or #5 train to 233rd Street Station. Walk 3 blocks along 233rd, downhill. Cross over Webster Avenue. The cemetery entrance is on the left.
