Zveme vás na prezentaci výstupu z rezidence české umělkyně Barbory Fastrové, která se uskuteční 7. 5. v 18:00 v Pragovka Gallery.
Během rezidence se Fastrová soustředí na textilní odpad jako materiálový i kulturní fenomén spojený s nadprodukcí a proměnou hodnoty věcí v současné společnosti. Prostřednictvím dlouhodobé a systematické práce s materiálem u ní vzniká imaginární svět – spekulativní vizuální představa budoucnosti, v níž textil funguje jako jeden ze základních stavebních prvků prostředí a organicky se propojuje s živými organismy a tělesnými formami.
Cílem rezidence je vytvořit sérii objektů z vyřazených oděvů, textilních struktur, které absorbují materiálový přebytek a transformují jej do nové formy. Každý z nich v sobě nese desítky kusů oblečení a v symbolické rovině funguje jako nositel procesu redukce nadprodukce, který přispívá k odlehčení materiálového přetlaku současného světa.

Barbora Fastrová je vizuální umělkyně působící v Praze. Původně studovala fotografii na UMPRUM, její tvorba se však rozšířila o sochu, instalaci a kresbu. Ve své práci se soustředí na témata materiality, transformace a udržitelnosti, s důrazem na odpadní a druhotné materiály, zejména textilní odpad, který se stal klíčovým prvkem její současné praxe. Od roku 2014 spolupracuje s Johanou Pošovou; společně realizovaly projekty jako Gris Gris (GfZK Leipzig) či Brother (Syntax, Lisabon) a v roce 2018 iniciovaly projekt Cheap Art, který otevřel téma udržitelnosti v institucionálním kontextu. V roce 2022 se podílela na projektu Flower Union v rámci českého předsednictví v Radě EU. Paralelně rozvíjí sólovou tvorbu a účastní se mezinárodních rezidencí. Její práce se propojuje s ekologickým uměním a ekofeminismem a udržitelnost chápe jako základní princip tvorby.

Pragovka Gallery se nachází v přízemí 2. zálivu Pragovky. Objekt je od centra vzdálen 15 min. Metro B – Kolbenova, tram – Poštovská.

We invite you to the presentation of the residency outcome of Czech artist Barbora Fastrová, taking place on 7 May at 6:00 PM at Pragovka Gallery.
During her residency, Fastrová focuses on textile waste as both a material and cultural phenomenon linked to overproduction and the changing value of things in contemporary society. Through long-term and systematic work with the material, she develops an imaginary world – a speculative visual vision of the future in which textiles function as one of the fundamental building blocks of the environment and organically merge with living organisms and bodily forms.
The aim of the residency is to create a series of objects made from discarded garments – textile structures that absorb material excess and transform it into new forms. Each of them contains dozens of pieces of clothing and, on a symbolic level, functions as a carrier of the process of reducing overproduction, contributing to the alleviation of material excess in the contemporary world.

Barbora Fastrová is a visual artist based in Prague. She originally studied photography at UMPRUM, but her practice has expanded to include sculpture, installation, and drawing. In her work, she focuses on themes of materiality, transformation, and sustainability, with an emphasis on waste and secondary materials—especially textile waste, which has become a key element of her current practice.
Since 2014, she has been collaborating with Johana Pošová; together they have realized projects such as Gris Gris (GfZK Leipzig) and Brother (Syntax, Lisbon), and in 2018 they initiated the project Cheap Art, which addressed sustainability within an institutional context. In 2022, she participated in the Flower Union project as part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Alongside her collaborative work, she develops a solo practice and participates in international residencies. Her work is connected to ecological art and ecofeminism, and she approaches sustainability as a fundamental principle of artistic production.

Pragovka Gallery is located on the ground floor of the 2nd Pragovka Bay. The building is 15 minutes from the centre. Metro B - Kolbenova, tram - Poštovská.
