About this Event

📚✂️ B3 Launch Event: Barbers, Books & Boys

Saturday, April 18 | 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Something powerful is happening in the barbershop.

Join us for the official launch of B3 – Barbers, Books & Boys, an exciting community initiative through the University of the District of Columbia designed to make reading natural, accessible, and empowering for young boys — right where they already feel at home.

On April 18th, the shop transforms into more than just a place for fresh cuts. It becomes a space where books spark conversations, confidence grows, and boys are encouraged to dream bigger.

What to Expect:

  • A curated collection of age-appropriate books available for young clients
  • Barbers encouraging reading during appointments and wait time
  • Positive conversations about goals, interests, and imagination
  • Community photos celebrating this meaningful launch
  • A team dedicated to uplifting and empowering boys

This initiative is about more than books — it’s about mentorship, literacy, and creating a culture where reading is cool, confidence is built, and young boys see their potential reflected back at them in a trusted community space.

Hosted by UDC Students along with Shop owner Mr.Mills:
Sheryl Augustine
Raschell Lancaster
Valerie Reed
Henoch Ketema
Emmett Johnson

Come witness the beginning of something impactful. Let’s shape fades and futures at the same time.

Because every fresh cut deserves a fresh chapter.
