Barbara Morrison "The Movie"; a Fundraising Event

Welcome to Barbara Morrison "Life is Music"; a Fundraising Event! Join us on Sun Feb 23 2025 at 17:00 at Matter Studio Gallery for a night of fun, art and entertainment. Hosted by Matter Studio Gallerist Karla Funderburk and independent filmmaker Tony Villani, the film's director, the event is intended to raise much needed funds to complete post production on this labor of love dedicated to one of the most riveting jazz and blues vocalists in history. Come and enjoy an incredible evening of music performed by top artists who worked with Barbara or were inspired by her. The playbill will include the rhytm section of the Worls Stage trio with Hiro Morazumi on piano, Jeff Littleton on bass, and Jerrell Ballard on drums, sets by vocalists Zuri Alexander, Elaine Gibbs, and Frieda Lee, a performance by Mello Bluez Houston, and a special guest appearance by Blues legend Bernie Pearl. Clips from the film will be screened.

There will also be a "Live Painting Happening" by visual artist Mary Harris which will be auctioned at the end of the evening along with numerous other works donated by prominent Los Angeles artists such as Jim Chitty, Talita Long, Susan Feldman, Jora Nelstein, george Evans, Chris Rocket, Karla Funderburk, and Mary Harris, to name a few!

Nibbles and beveraged will be served. Tickets are $50.00 and your first drink is included with purchase. Seating is limited so please secure your tickets in advance.
