Bar Takeover with Desviso @ Good Company Books

Scott and Marta will welcome you at the bar and introduce you to the wine selection for the evening! During this 3 hours you will have a chance to taste carefully selected wines from Desviso winery and dive into conversation with Scott and Marta about their story, wines and their production process of natural fermentation, care and respect that is reflected in each wine bottle they make.

About Desviso

Vinhos Desviso is a small, family-run winery, founded by Scott and Marta. He is American, she is Portuguese, and they have been together for over 12 years. The couple decided to start their own project with the main goal of producing fresh, elegant wines, that translate their individual experiences and journey together.

Before starting Vinhos Desviso Marta and Scott worked in wineries in the USA, specifically in the small town of Walla Walla located in Washington State. It was through harvest experiences in Portugal that the idea of returning to Portugal to make their own wine with Portuguese grape varieties was born.

The winery is located about 50 minutes north of Lisbon, between the towns of Bombarral and Óbidos. After repurposing the old family’s warehouse into a winery, Vinhos Desviso’s first harvest was in 2022.

Grapes are always hand-harvested, carefully selecting only the best bunches. At the winery, the wines are produced with minimal intervention (natural fermentation, no fining, no filtering), but above all, with a lot a respect and care for the land and what comes from it, allowing for each wine to express itself and tell its own story.

Event comes to life thanks to terroir, our wine provider who work with small producers who have a close relationship with their vineyards and the process that takes place in the cellar. They share wines with a sense of place and a connection to people.

By Metro: We're situated a 5-minute walk from the Campo Pequeno metro (Yellow line) and a 10-minute walk from the Alameda metro (Green & Red lines).

By Bus: There are many convenient bus options 2 blocks away from us on Avenida República, with the closest stop to our store being Campo Pequeno-Av. Republica.

By Bike: If you're using the Gira public bicycles, there is a docking station right across the street (#431 - Rua do Arco Cego / Av. Magalhães Lima).

By Car: There is a paid parking lot across the street, between Rua Arco do Cego and Rua Dona Filipa de Vilhena. Street parking is also available around the neighborhood.
