Bar Politics: Housing & Homelessness Edition
About this Event
Early voting is kicking off – and it’s not all about red vs. blue.
This November, Dallas County residents will vote on Proposition A, a nonpartisan ballot measure to increase funding for our local homelessness response system by raising the property tax rate.
What strategies will these tax dollars fund? How will this affect the average homeowner? And local businesses? And also… wait, how tall is that tower at Preston and Royal going to be? And what does that have to do with housing and homelessness?!
Host Josh Kumler… is not to be trusted answering these very serious questions. But he has put together a panel to discuss them that features Ikenna Mogbo, chief housing officer at Metrocare, and Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, a man who is not a judge in the traditional black-robe-and-powdered-wig sense but is the one you have to thank/blame for putting this thing on your November ballot.
Also featuring: the return of legendary Dallas singer-songwriter Earnest Matthew.
So grab a drink and get aware this Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Far-Out from 7-9!
