About this Event
Citadel Hearthlight Presents:
BANNER WAR
In an isolated forest, three factions find themselves in an epic battle of conquest, each proclaiming rightful ownership of the land...
Join us at Citadel Hearthlight for a sprawling, long-form battlesports scenario in varied terrain that will challenge individuals and units not only in their combat prowess but in their endurance, strategy, and cooperation skills. At BANNER WAR, there is only one combat scenario, lasting an unprecedented five consecutive hours.
Three factions are provided physical banners which are used to lay claim to territory in this 'King of the hill"-style scenario. Five capture nodes are available for control by these factions, and while controlled will aggregate points for their holders over the course of the day, and the team with the most total points will claim victory.
Following a long day of battle when armistice is declared, come prepared in your best finery and equipped with your most exquisite feast kits, as participants dine in style over a complementary dinner while a "Fancy Feast" competition is hosted in the main hall. Part A&S, part showmanship, and all posh--we have a special prize cooked up for the winner(s). More details to come!
Just want the grub? No problem! While participation in the "Fancy Feast" is completely voluntary, all event participants get a free meal.
LOGISTICS & AMENITIES:
- BANNER WAR is an attendance-capped event for 90 attendees due to the size of the venue, its parking opportunities, and its intended staffing scope. If you're interested in attending, please pre-register and fill out the corresponding forms. With it being our first event, we intend to run things controllably rather than at the biggest possible scale.
- A cabin bunk is guaranteed--for free--for all participants, and tickets are sold based on cabin bunk availability, even if players are intending to camp in tents. Packages are available to purchase whole cabins, and thus include respective event admission for six individuals.
**Note: Cabins can technically sleep eight people if you have more friends who buy their own admission, but with gear it will be cramped.
- A central bathhouse has working plumbing and hot-water showers.
- The site has beautiful scenery, an amphitheater, industrial kitchen, and several larger buildings for gathering others. Don't believe it? Check out their site: https://campingct.org/facilities.html
- There are commercial centers within a 15 minute driving radius, including multiple Walmarts/Retailers, a major regional shopping mall and related plazas, hardware stores, etc. You won't be worried if scrounging for last-minute supplies.
- Walk-on admission is not guaranteed, and is subject to cabin, parking, and campsite availability the day of the event, and you may be rejected at the door without advance notice if not pre-registered. Limited additional walk-on availability is for non-camping, daytime-only passes, and is CASH ONLY. This is only because we don't have a full gauge of expectations for the first year. If you want to attend, we urge pre-registration.
- Want to teach a class, help herald, or get involved? Reach out here, the Hearthlight discord, or message Citadel Battlesports on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CTBattleSports) and we'll be more than happy to promote you and what you want to do!
NOTABLE SITE RULES:
- NO OPEN FIRES. This is a hard requirement (for this year) due to local laws requiring burn permits for each fire every day a fire is lit, and the venue is not permitting campfires without permits. There are many usable permanent stone firepits for cooking throughout the venue. Charcoal grills and enclosed propane camp stoves (i.e. Coleman grills) are permitted.
- Deadfall found throughout the property can be used as fuel. Please do not chop live growth. Wood is available for purchase in the store for a low fee, and some maybe be provided by the venue for free.
- PARK ONLY IN DESIGNATED AREAS. Wagons/wheelbarrows will be available for use to move your gear to your tent or cabin.
VEHICLES ARE PROHIBITED ON THE FIELD. VIOLATORS MAY BE FINED OR EJECTED.
- Smoking is to be performed behind the dining hall and is marked by signage. Please dispose of cigarette filters in the trash.
