Banned books? Bad books?
Join us for a thought-provoking afternoon focusing on banned books. Enjoy brunch with speaker and Interim Director of the Michigan Library Association, Dillon Greshel, who also spearheads the MI Right to Read initiative. This group focuses on censorship in libraries across Michigan.
After the delightful brunch, courtesy of the Friends of the Richland Community Library, we'll board a motor coach and head to the Williamston Theatre to see the premiere of “Bad Books.” The afternoon closes out with a Q&A session with the Actors, Director and Artistic Director after the performance.
Thursday, May 7, 11 am-5:30 pm $95
Registration closes Thursday, April 16 at noon.
Bad Books tells the story of a worried mother who comes to the library for what she thinks will be a reasonable, polite discussion about which books are appropriate for her teenage son. But her confrontation with the town librarian, a woman who cares deeply about her job and their community, sparks a chain reaction of consequences no one expected. Equal parts sharply funny and heartbreakingly poignant, Bad Books is a raucous and brash debate in the quietest places in America...the library.
(for mature audiences)
