INTRODUCING...
INTRODUCING...
Playgrounds
Playgrounds is a local duo made up of vocalists Finlay Jessop and Kai Aris, the later of which also plays keys and handles production. The duo started recording music in a May of 2021 but wouldn’t begin releasing music until June of 2022. While the two still write and record as a duo their live band consists of Alex Gwillem on guitar, Seth Leupold on bass, Walker Pearcey on drums and, Henry Baker on trumpet.
Plastic City
Plastic City is an alternative rock band from Victoria BC. They often blend many different sounds, often switching from soft melodic pieces to booming fuzzy guitars and belting vocals within the same song. Each member is a multi-instrumentalist, which helps when creating their lush and layered arrangements, and leads to switching instruments in the middle of a performance.
Ultraviolet
Drinking from an ever-flowing and seamlessly shifting river of inspirations and influences, Ultraviolet is a power trio full of genre-defying experimental energy. Described as "refreshingly creative" and "equal parts mysterious, groovy and spacey," the project comprises guitarist/touch-guitarist Oscar Robles Diaz (from Mexico City), bassist/vocalist Brittany Christina Bowman (from the Comox Valley), and drummer Beau Stocker (from Toronto). These three come from different backgrounds, both geographically and musically speaking. Through Ultraviolet, they share a spirit of continuous exploration which propels creative collaboration and thrives off a sense of connection and energy of being fully ‘in-the-moment.’ That energy is evident in their live shows and throughout ‘Ripples & Waves’ – their debut album which was recorded fully live-off-the-floor’ (three musicians in one room) and released in December 2023.
The Stashes
Stashes’ hard hitting riffs, head banging rhythms, and ear catching hooks blur the lines between modern and vintage rock. Taking the university music scene by storm, Stashes have developed a following that brings an exciting, raw, unadulterated energy to their shows. This combination of energy and pure rock gives listeners an idea of what a Black Keys and Led Zeppelin baby could sound like. Their debut album “Where They Won’t Find It”, released in February 2024, reminds us all why being in a band is so much fun. Whether it's blasting “Summer Butter” while cruising on the lake, or getting sweaty in the mosh pit to “Death Valley”, Stashes are sure to put a smile on even your grandmother’s face.

This event is taking place on the traditional, stolen, unceded land of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We acknowledge the rich cultural history of the many peoples and rituals that have been affected by the ongoing process of dispossession and colonialism. We hold this understanding in our interactions and engagements with this land and its people.
