This exceptional locomotive isn’t your ordinary steam engine—it’s a unique “fireless” steam locomotive crafted by Heisler Works in Erie, PA.PEPCO No. 43 stands as one of only 50 of its kind ever built, defying convention with its innovative design. After its tenure, a new chapter unfolded for this marvel. Restored to its former glory in 1979 by PEPCO, it found a new home at the Smithsonian Institution before being graciously donated to the B&O Museum in 2009.

Please note: This tour requires participants to climb stairs and walk on uneven pathways. A virtual tour will be available on-site via QR code.
