Bambino Book Club Presents: The Haunted Screen

Bambino Book Club is a literary series celebrating local books and authors with handmade events, pizza, wine and soft serve. Bambino Book Club is curated by Sarah Orman and Katie Bender, both Austin-based authors , readers, and pizza lovers who happen to be married to L'Oca d'Oro and Bambino . . . that is, to the owners of L'Oca d'Oro and Bambino, Adam Orman and Fiore Tedesco. (Hi, husbands!)

On November 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., Bambino Book Club will host a Vertigo-tinged evening with author J. M. Tyree. J. M. will be in conversation with Adam Orman, film enthusiast and restaurateur, about his novella The Haunted Screen, which draws on Hitchcock’s films for inspiration. The evening will also include selected clips from Hitchcock’s hypnotic 1958 thriller.

You’re invited to order dinner and drinks on the patio. (Ticket price does not include food and beverages.) Bambino opens at 4:00 p.m., and happy hour is from 4-6:00 p.m.

J. M. Tyree is the editor of Film Quarterly and the coauthor (with Michael McGriff) of Our Secret Life in the Movies, an NPR Best Books selection. A former Capote-Stegner Fellow in Fiction at Stanford, he has published in American Short Fiction, McSweeney’s, New England Review, Sight & Sound, and in the BFI Film Classics series of books on film from Bloomsbury and the British Film Institute. He is an associate professor in the Cinema Program at VCUarts.
