WHAT IS THE BALKANS SHIATSU SUMMIT?The Balkans Shiatsu Summit is an annual gathering dedicated to promoting and supporting the development of Shiatsu throughout Eastern Europe. Created by the team of Bosnia Shiatsu School & Ryoho Shiatsu with the desire to strengthen the visibility and reach of Shiatsu in the Balkan region, the summit brings together a growing community of practitioners, students, and teachers who believe in the power of touch as a path to healing, connection, and transformation.

INSOMNIA
Calming the Mind & Cultivating Yin Energy for Restful Sleep
In this session, we will explore how to quiet the mind and prepare the body for deep, restorative sleep. Mental agitation can easily disturb our ability to rest, so we will work with points along the Heart and Pericardium meridians to “calm the Shen” and bring about inner peace. By focusing on the feet and Kidney meridian points, we will guide energy downward from an overactive mind, enhancing the circulation of Yin energy—a key to slowing down body, mind, and spirit. Time permitting, we will also practice gentle holding techniques, similar to those used to comfort a child, offering reassurance and creating a sense of safety. These methods help release tension, encourage deep relaxation, and prepare us for a truly restful night’s sleep.

ANXIETY
Anxiety is multifaceted and has countless causes, often blending physical tension with emotional discomfort. In this session, we will work closely with the body’s energy patterns to identify and address the specific manifestations of anxiety. Following its pathways through the meridians, we will apply simple yet effective shiatsu techniques that soothe the nervous system, release tension, and calm the Spirit (Shen). Importantly, we will also explore the deeper roots of anxiety, recognizing that it is as much a spiritual concern as it is a physical one. Through gentle postures, conscious breathing, and intentional touch, we seek to quiet the mind, calm the heart, and bring the whole being into a state of calm and harmony, paving the way for renewed strength and inner peace.

DEPRESSION
This workshop will explore depression through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with a specific focus on Zen Shiatsu. We will look at how Shiatsu understands and addresses the body–mind relationship in states of depression, combining theoretical insights with practical applications. Participants will be introduced to hands-on techniques and concrete tools that can be integrated into their practice, with an emphasis on supporting both the physical and emotional dimensions of care.

IRRITABILITY
Irritability, often perceived as a superficial reaction, is actually a sign of a deeper imbalance. Shiatsu offers a subtle and comprehensive approach to soothing these tensions by acting on both the body and the mind. Through precise work on the meridians and key points, it promotes the free flow of energy, releases blockages, and helps restore inner balance.
This program highlights the energetic causes of irritability according to Eastern medicine—whether they originate in the Liver, Heart, or an excess of Fire—and offers appropriate protocols.
Prerequisites
🎓 You must have completed at least two years of courses if you are a student.
🤝 Open to all practitioners and teachers.
📚 Basic knowledge of Chinese medicine is a plus.
🌸 All Shiatsu styles are welcome.
🗣️ What language will the workshop be in?
All instructors will teach in English 🇬🇧.
But if you need it, translation into Croatian 🇭🇷 will be available.

Airport Shuttle (Pleso Prijevoz): Regular shuttles run to the Zagreb Central Bus Station.
Public Transport: Take ZET bus 290 a budget-friendly route to Kvaternikov Square with multiple stops.
