Balkan Bible, by Convene
About this Event
The best food I've ever eaten, and my motivation to become a chef, came from my grandparents' garden.
My baba and dida (grandma and grandad) left former Yugoslavia for Manchester in the 1960s, raised a family here, then retired home to Serbia, a house with a big garden in Sremčica, just outside Belgrade. Grapes pressed for wine, tomatoes off the vine, potatoes dug from the earth. I spent every summer there, and those years taught me what food is really for: sharing, family, a full table.
For one night, Convene is hosting an intimate Balkan table. We'll be preparing carefully used local seasonal ingredients, cooked rustic family-style open fire on the grill out front. 3 courses built on the flavours I grew up with, brought through to you seated inside. Food cooked over fire, made to be shared, with natural wines handpicked from across the region available to purchase on the night.
Just 20 seats at the table.
We can't wait to see you there.
