About this Event
This special, members-only event is presented in partnership with Humane Indiana Wildlife, whose team played a vital role in rescuing and rehabilitating this remarkable bird.
About the Eagle’s Journey:
In early March, the bald eagle was discovered in Whiting, Indiana, completely covered in oil and unable to fly. Thanks to the cooperation of local property owners and the dedicated efforts of the Humane Indiana Wildlife team, the eagle was safely rescued and brought in for urgent care. While physically unharmed and testing negative for lead, the bird’s feathers were heavily oiled, rendering it flightless.
After multiple cleanings using Dawn dish soap and several weeks in an outdoor recovery enclosure to allow its natural oils to replenish, the eagle is now healthy, strong, and ready to soar once more.
