Balancing Our Minds: Yoga with Michael Wilson Join us at IMAN Inner-City Muslim Action Network for a transformative Kemetic yoga workshop. Rooted in the ancient practices of Kemetic (Egyptian) spirituality and the principles of Heru (Horus), this class will guide you through a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and inner strength.

Michael Saa Sekhem, at the age of 12 was introduced to yoga. Stretching, became an unseen tool to use after athletic activities. Michael in 2007, was in a car accident. Bring a water bottle & a mat. Refreshments and mats will be provided (while supplies last)

Michael used breath work tai chi and Qi gong as a way to get initial healing. In 2009 met Black Men & Women yoga instructors on Dania Beach and Michael Saa Sekhem was born. 2010 he was certified in Ancient Kemetic Yoga.

From 2010-2016, Michael studied with yoga instructors in Long Beach & Chino Hills California, hatha, vinyasa, ashtanga, bikram, kundalini, yoga.

Since coming back home to Chicago in 2016, Michael has deepened his focus on young adult black men. partnering with community organizations, therapists to bring yoga to urban communities.

About the Go Green Griot Plaza

The Go Green Griot Plaza will be an outdoor community arts and organizing hub connected to the Go Green Community Fresh Market in Englewood. Alongside helping to create vibrancy and vitality on the important 63rd and Racine node and to drive interest in and traffic to the Market, the Plaza will host artistic performances, health workshops, vendor pop-ups, community forums, cooking demonstrations, and be a space for community cook-outs, art projects and open-mics. The Plaza will be the latest in the series of City of Chicago-supported POP Court venues opening up on once-vacant and abandoned land, and will mark an important milestone in the effort to draw attention and further investment into critical projects like the reopening of the Racine Green Line Station and the Granville T. Woods Regenerator project on the same intersection. The Plaza commemorates the legacy of the griot--the West African storytellers revered for preserving the legacy of their communities--and pays tribute to the power of story to connect, inspire, and drive our collective efforts forward.
