The Smith Rock BMX Balance Bike Camp is a fun, supportive introduction to BMX for young riders who are new to balance bikes or still building confidence on two wheels.This camp focuses on developing balance, coordination, bike control, and confidence in a safe, age-appropriate environment. Riders will learn the basics of BMX through games, skill stations, and guided track time while having fun and building a love for riding. Each session includes structured riding activities, breaks, and positive coaching from experienced staff. Riders will also practice simple race skills such as starting, riding safely with others, and finishing strong—without the pressure of competition.
Camp Dates & Time:
Sessions will be held from 9:30–10:30 AM on the following dates:
2/7, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, and 3/14
A final awards ceremony will take place at Smith Rock BMX during the first Friday night race of the season on 4/3 at 7:00 PM (weather dependent).
Registration is a commitment to attend all camp dates and the awards ceremony, as skills will build week-to-week and awards are based on full participation.
What to Wear / Bring:
Riders should arrive wearing long-sleeve shirts, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. If available, please bring your child’s balance bike and helmet. A limited number of loaner balance bikes and helmets will be available.
Camp registration includes:
USA BMX membership
Number plate
Camp T-shirt
Daily participation awards
Final medal at the conclusion of the camp
This camp is designed to prepare riders for future BMX practices and races while keeping the focus on fun, confidence, and skill development.
