Baking with Honeypie Bakeshop | Chocolate "French Silk" Pies

In this class, led by Honeypie's founder and Chief Executive Pie Officer, Valeri Lucks, we will we learn the skills to create at home one of the most beloved pie flavors around - the French Silk pie.
We will have a lesson on the very versatile, shortening-based pastry crust as well as the how-to's of "blind baking" for the most crisp and flaky crust that holds creamy, dreamy pie fillings and more.
After making our crusts, we will learn how to make our own chocolate silk pie filling as we discuss the history of the "French Silk" pie, its variations and which French Silk inspired Valeri's life-long love of pies and diners. At the end of class, you will go home with one completed 9" pie to share (or to keep all to yourself). This class is fun and delicious, perfect for those of all pie-making skill levels.
Your ticket for class includes all of your ingredients, a printed recipe with tips and tricks, your finished baked treats and a drink ticket for the bar good for a tap beer, well cocktail, wine or any NA beverage to enjoy during or after class.
Our classes are approximately 2.5-3 hours and are limited to 12 people. We do stand most of the time and work at a table in a working professional kitchen (we can arrange for a stool to sit on during class if needed, please let us know if you need one). Wear clothing you don't mind getting flour on and closed-toe, non-slip shoes. The Palomino kitchen and bar is open before class, during the class break and after class serving drinks and our full dinner menu.
(Please note, we often have long wait lists for our pie classes. Tickets to class are non-refundable if you cancel without more than 72 hours notice. If you need to cancel within 72 hours of class, you are welcome to email us, and we will offer your spot to a person on the waiting list. If it is taken by someone waiting, we will refund your ticket. You are also welcome to give your ticket to a friend and they can attend in your place.)
