Each student will go home with: a small king cake (decorated and ready to eat); a small king cake they’ve filled & shaped in class, as well as instructions for baking and decorating their 2nd cake at home; and of course, a recipe for making more king cakes from start to finish at home!
About Chris:
Chris has more than 30 years of baking experience. He founded RavenHook Bakehouse 19+ years ago with the mission of bringing all-natural, handcrafted artisan bread to local farmers markets. And Mardi Gras King Cakes hold a special place in Chris’ heart because they’re the perfect intersection of old world bread making techniques & a heavy sprinkling of fun! When Chris first visited family in New Orleans, he fell in love with the joyful traditions of the Mardi Gras season - starting with Three Kings Day on January 6 and ending on Fat Tuesday (March 4th this year). He immediately thought: we should bring Mardi Gras King Cakes to DC. What a fun way to brighten up an often cold and dreary season!
* Please note, we will be unable to accommodate special dietary requests for this class except to substitute vegetarian jambalaya in lieu of chicken & andouille gumbo.
ALL AGES CLASS. MUST BE 21+ TO ENJOY ALCOHOL. PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY AND CONSIDER RIDESHARE.
