Spend the day digging deeper into your family history at this hands-on genealogy workshop focused on records connected to law enforcement — including sheriffs, police officers, and the Texas Rangers.
Whether you’ve always heard there was a lawman (or outlaw!) in the family tree or you’re just beginning your research journey, this workshop will introduce practical tools, key records, and expert guidance to help you uncover new stories.
Throughout the day, you’ll learn how to locate and use:
• Personnel and service files
• Sheriff and police records
• Texas Ranger archives
• Newspaper stories and historical context
• Cemetery records, private collections, and more
Our lineup of local historians, librarians, and research specialists will walk you through real case studies, common myths, research strategies, and the best places to search — so you leave with clear next steps for your own family research.
