About this Event

🗓️ Every Saturday and Sunday in July and August
⏱️ 10am-5pm
📍 29 Walton Street, Oxford, OX2 1AA

It's officially Bad Girl Summer 💅

Due to SO MANY incredible Romantasy authors wanting to get involved with our Grand Opening, I've decided to create a Bad Girl Books Romantasy Festival for all of July and August to celebrate our grand opening! Every weekend will have:

  • Author signings ALL DAY
  • Tote bag giveaways in the morning
  • Pop-up elements like a matcha cart outside, or maybe a bakery or bubble tea stand
  • A friendly busy atmosphere where you can meet new bookish friends!
  • Limited edition Romantasy books, and so much more!

P.S. You do not need a ticket to come to the bookshop on a weekday. We're open like a regular gift shop / bookstore Monday-Friday 12pm-7pm! If you want to come on a weekend day in June or July, please book a free ticket between 10am-5pm on Eventbrite to help reduce queues. 🥰

There is plenty of stock, so please book an afternoon slot (after 3pm) if you would like to have no queue, or come by on a weekday at any time for a quieter shopping experience!

If you come along to this event, you can expect:

📚 author tables for in-person signings

🎀 imported special edition books from the USA and Australia with sprayed edges!!

☕️ vegan pastry booth from a local cafe at the front

🛍️ bookish tote bags designed by Starlin

🍭 book boyfriend lollipops

🕯️ bookish candles

🎀 kindle grips and stickers

📿 keychains, accessories and pins

📖 bookmarks and stationary

🧢 embroidered caps, sweatshirts and more!

🛍️ There will be FREE Bad Girl Books tote bags to the first 10 people every Saturday and Sunday morning 🛍️ (you must have a 10am slot booked to be eligible)

9:30am - 10am is open for private shopping for those with sensory needs and autism who want to shop in a quiet environment with no music and no crowds. I have additional goodie bags available for anyone with a 10am time slot who have accessibility needs and cannot queue.

I am BEYOND excited to share that the permanent Bad Girl Books Romantasy bookshop is finally opening ahh!!!! For those of you who don't know me - hi! My name is Starlin and I have been working toward opening a Romantasy-only bookshop for the past year by hosting pop-up bookshop events across the UK. 🥰 My dream is to create a place where romantasy reading is celebrated and spicy reading is encouraged. I've often felt embarassed asking booksellers in shops for recommendations, and sometimes felt judged for the books I love most. But reading should be about having fun, and enjoying books that make you happy (and ocassionally rip your heart out and make you ugly cry). I have personally found the Romantasy genre so empowering and so fun, and I can literally yap about my favourite books all day long. I would love to bring the romantasy community together so they have the opportunity to meet like minded people and make new friends, and talk about our favourite characters and favourite series together! And of course shop the cutest merch and support small businesses across the UK at the same time 🥰

QUEUING & TICKETS

Please note that your time slot is for ARRIVAL. Do not arrive before your time slot, otherwise this will clog up the queueing system. The time slots help to even out the queue so it is no longer than an hour. If people arrive before their slot, then the wait time will be longer and cause a backlog.

ACCESSABILITY & VENUE DETAILS

If you have sensory needs, there is a sensory slot at 9:30am on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the festival dates. Please come straight to the front to be let in at that time. Music is off, noise is kept to a minimum and there will be no crowds. If you have any physical disabilities that make queueing difficult, you DO NOT NEED TO QUEUE. Your experience is different to able bodied people, please do not feel embarrassed about skipping the queue and coming straight to the front. There is a volunteer there who will escort you inside.

The shop is accessible, but there are a few steps between the 2 main rooms. There is external access to the second room so wheelchair users can experience the whole shop, but I'm sorry that the second room is slightly less convenient as it's accessible through the external side door with a ramp.

If you have specific requirements or questions about accessibility, please send me an email at [email protected]

I hope to see you there!!
