Bad Company Mixed Media
Come and spend a relaxed afternoon in my studio creating a wonderfully shifty bird with serious personality.
This four-hour workshop is all about playing with mixed media, building layers and turning a quirky bird character into something completely your own.
You will choose from a variety of bird characters, each with their own slightly suspicious little attitude, then bring yours to life using collage, paint, pen, crayon, gilding, texture and whatever else we feel like throwing at it.
During the workshop, you will:
• Choose your own shifty bird character
• Build a layered mixed media background
• Play with collage, paint, pen, crayon and gilding
• Add papers, pattern and unexpected details
• Develop your bird’s personality through colour and mark-making
• Create a finished artwork that feels truly yours
No drawing or painting experience is required. I will guide you through each stage in a relaxed, supportive studio environment, with plenty of room for your own style, humour and happy accidents.
By the end of the afternoon, you will leave with your own finished mixed media bird artwork, ready to take home and show off.
Saturday · 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm
Chelle Ellery Studio
220 Wilkerson Road, West Toodyay WA 6566
Saturday 29 August 2026

This is not about painting by numbers or copying every brushstroke. It is about playing with beautiful materials, making bold choices and turning one very shifty-looking bird into something special.
Small class. Proper materials. Great snacks. Bad company encouraged.
