• Cooler temperatures mean less stress on young plants.
• Autumn rains keep the soil moist, helping roots establish without constant watering.
• By the time winter arrives, your plants are tucked in and ready to rest — then come spring, they explode with healthy growth.
Planting in the fall also gives your garden a head start. By putting roots in the ground now, you’re preparing nectar and host plants that butterflies and moths will depend on next year. It’s a simple act with a big impact for local wildlife!

All of our plants are grown with care in our small, home-based nursery. We mindfully select every species we offer to ensure that it provides food or habitat value to butterflies, moths, and other pollinators.
Our organization is an all-volunteer effort dedicated to education, community outreach, and helping people create Lepidoptera-friendly gardens and habitats in their own backyards.
Plant sales like this one are our lifeline. Funding from your purchases not only keeps our programs and operations running, but also supports community-building events and initiatives such as The Hillsborough Moth Crawl, our Plant Grants program, and the NC Moth Project. Every plant you bring home helps pollinators thrive and helps us bring people, butterflies, and moths together!
