After a strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom, a therapist (Oscar-nominee Renate Reinsve) must confront the seemingly endless—and surprisingly dangerous—unknown when her patient (Oscar-nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor) disappears beyond the doorway into a place that can only be described as the Backrooms.
