🚙❤️ BACKROADS & BITES — RIDE WITH A PURPOSE ❤️🚙
📅 September 20, 2026🕐 Meet at 1:00 PM📍 Lowe’s – 24500 Falcon Place, Abingdon, VA
Sometimes a ride can be about so much more than the road beneath our tires. Sometimes it can be about stopping, looking around our own community, and helping someone who needs it. ❤️
That’s what this ride is about.
❤️
HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS — ONE MEAL AT A TIME
This ride is being organized to support the incredible work Patience Rose Bear has been doing for people experiencing homelessness in our community. Patience has been helping provide meals to people in need three days a week, and for some of the people she serves, that meal may be the only meal they have that day. Think about that for a minute. For many of us, grabbing something to eat is something we don’t have to think twice about. But there are people right here in our own community who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
Patience has made it her mission to help change that. She continues to show up, serve meals, and make sure people who may otherwise go without have something warm and nourishing to eat.
❤️ This is where SWVA Chow Time comes in.
Keith is preparing a meal for the local homeless population in Bristol as part of this effort, and we want our Backroads & Bites family to help make that meal a little bigger, a little better, and a little easier to provide.
🥗 WHAT CAN YOU BRING?
If you are able, we would love for you to bring one or more of these items:
🥡 3-compartment plates
🍴 Cutlery
💧 Cases of single-serve water
🥤 Cases of single-serve Gatorade
🥖 A bag or two of Rhodes yeast rolls
🥗 Salad
🥗 Individual ranch dressing packets
🍉 Fruit Cups
Fresh fruit is especially appreciated — they really enjoy it! 🍓🍇🍉
And please don’t worry about collecting too much. Any extra supplies or food will be used for another meal day.
🚙 THEN LET’S RIDE!
After meeting at Lowe’s in Abingdon, we’ll head out together through some beautiful Southwest Virginia country.
Our route will take us:
📍 Abingdon
⬇️ Damascus
🌄 By Backbone Rock
⬇️ Through McQueen’s Gap
🌊 Across Jacob’s Creek
🍽️ Then we’ll finish with dinner based on what the group decides
This isn’t about how many miles we ride. It’s about what we can do along the way. We have an amazing community, and one of the things that makes Backroads & Bites special is that we believe in supporting the communities we ride through. You don’t have to be able to donate a lot.You don’t have to bring everything on the list.
One package of plates. One case of water. A bag of rolls. Fruit Cups. A few dollars’ worth of supplies.
Whatever you can contribute can help.
Because when a bunch of people each give a little, it can turn into a whole lot of help.
❤️ So bring your rig.Bring your family.Bring a friend.Bring a donation if you’re able.
And come spend the afternoon riding some beautiful Southwest Virginia roads while helping people right here in our own community.
Let’s ride for something bigger than ourselves. ❤️🚙
