To all who are connected past, present, and/or future to Main Street Church of God (as well as those who have perhaps never visited us before!):September greetings! I’m reaching out to you today to give you a glimpse of what’s been going on over the past year at 4211 Main St in Anderson, Indiana, and give you an opportunity to see for yourself.
You may or may not know that I became the senior pastor at the end of last year. It’s been the most humbling of honors and I am grateful beyond degree for the calling. The preceding thirteen years on staff as worship pastor, as well as the four years before that as an AU student attending Main Street, surely shaped me into who I am today. I’m excited about what God is doing and what He will do.
In addition to a variety of exterior updates (continuing to repave the parking lot, section by section, for instance), we have recently renovated the sanctuary and parts of the rest of the main building. New, bright white walls have replaced the original paneling, there’s new carpet throughout much of the building, we’ve replaced dangerously dilapidating pews with comfortable chairs that still include space for Bible and hymnal, and other updates are imminent. Tech upgrades are also in progress. It looks great!
You’ve got to see it!
And we believe it reflects what God is doing in the hearts of our people—spiritual renovation! With continued emphases on community outreach and engagement—and serving the needs of our neighbors—we’re also redoubling our efforts to help everyone within the reach of our ministries knows Jesus Christ personally and the transforming power of the gospel. Toward that end, we’re championing our new core values of prayer, compassion, focus, and Biblical worldview, while celebrating, exemplifying, and amplifying (the voice of/the message of) Jesus.
That’s why we’re inviting you to a special occasion lined up for Sunday, September 22: BACK-TO-CHURCH SUNDAY!
Summer break is over, schools are back in session, and everybody’s getting back into swing of things. Don’t forget church! Life gets busy, and we understand, but it’s back to school after summer break, back to work after summer vacation, and back to church after maybe getting out of the (good) habit!
Plus, you’re always welcome at Main Street Church of God anyway! Sunday school is at 9:30 AM for all ages, our main worship service begins at 10:30 AM, and we now have a brand-new traditional Sunday evening service at 6:00 except on fourth Sundays of the month (along with youth group)!
Amazing things are happening at Main Street Church of God. If you come almost every time the doors are open—thank you—and be extra sure you’re with us on Sunday, September 22. If you’ve not been back to Main Street Church of God in a while, please consider joining us for this special Sunday—we’d love to see you again and show you our new look! Think of it like an “open house”—but we’ll sing God’s praises, too, and proclaim His Word! I hope to see you for this “reunion” of sorts. Let’s worship the Lord together!
